About This Site, or Blog

I started to delve into genealogy back around 2001 to 2003 time period. My mother was curious to know more about her father's side of the family and if certain things, he had shared about prior to his passing, were true or not. That woman could be a persistent thing when she wanted to be - and so, since I was one of the few people she knew who went online or knew their way, whatsoever, around using a computer, she picked me to be the one she would pester into looking up things for her online. And that is how this whole family tree sleuthing started on my side. My mother has since passed away, but by the time that happened I was already hooked on spending time at sites looking around for another record or perhaps a newspaper clipping I could add as a source. I suppose this is part of her legacy?

I will state upfront, my family tree research is my research.

No, that doesn't mean I am somehow claiming ownership of any names that I have included in my family tree file or to being "expert" either. Part of family tree researching may indeed include some copying from each other [although, if you choose to copy/paste my content from this blog and/or my shared notations over to your own tree and-or to share on another site, please credit me for that content and share a link back to "where you found it/copied it from" - just as one would, and should, do with any other content/sources/citations shared in your tree and/or other sites). My Dad's side of the family is rather sizeable (to put it mildly) and my mother's mother could boast of having over 50-some grandchildren by the time of her passing - so I can't claim the folks as "mine, all mine" to begin with as they are also someone else's ancestor. The only thing I lay claim to, within this blog, is the textual way I share some of my information: so my original wording and would appreciate it if people credited me, by name and sharing a link,, for my wording, any breakthroughs and/or my thoughts and-or if wanting to include any part of this within their own research or if wishing to share a copy/paste of any of my blog's self-worded posts to any other sites [i.e. one world tree entries and other sites] as one should do in genealogy when sharing sources or records.

Also, however, in stating that my family tree research is my research, I will share things per what paper trail and my research, and perhaps even DNA matching thoughts, which helped lead me to certain conclusions. I am not adverse to sharing out of wedlock children or sharing, through the tree, that a parent (due to death of a spouse and/or re-marriage thoughts) had children from a prior marriage raised by other family members or friends, I will share that within the tree. By the same token, however, if I do not feel that things are leading to hinting a woman had a child out of wedlock in her mid-50s to late 60s, I will not list her as to doing so on my side. I am also not adverse to listing someone with their parents' names not being known - and will do so even despite other trees, indvidual or one world type ones, attribute a couple as to being someone's parents. Sometimes "right surname"e; and "about the right age" or even "well, the couple lived in the right country" is not always enough to claim "these are the parents of So&So" in my opinion. I have also come across a few instances where a person's paper trail conflicted with what someone else shared in a print genealogical publication or in their online tree or what may be shared in an online tree entry.

So, yes, there may be times where my family tree work may differ from what others had copied from other trees/publications. Which, in sharing this thought, is perfect time for me to also share that my family tree may not be 100% correct, so I don't mind people using a grain of salt while perusing my posts, and findings, shared here - just as they would, and should, do if looking at online tree, a one world tree entry or even print family book/genealogical publication. I will also try to not share any information, in the posts here, about living people - so I may edit out names and other touches here and there out of courtesy. In terms of living people thoughts, I may also stop sharing people from some lines/branches where some people/children of those people are still living.

Any photos of people I have included in my family tree came from various online sources so, at this time, up in the air on if I will share any or not within my posts. In fact, I may not share that many image/media files in my posts - but may share some transcriptions. Essentially, this blog's posts may wind up be 99% textual information shared.

Lastly, since this is my family tree research, relationships will sometimes may likely share how the person is related to me. I will try to keep the bulk of posts' information being "in general" as I know it's not always "all about me" even if this blog is predominantly sharing my research and/or my words.
