Paternal; Jane Thompson (About 1797 - Deceased)

JANE THOMPSON (Carol's paternal-maternal great-great-great-grandmother) was born about 1797, in North Carolina, United States, to John F. Thompson and Margaret _____.

Jane had the following entries on United States federal censuses:
  · In 1850, aged about 53, in Curry Township, Sullivan County, Indiana, United States, August 10, in the household of Robert Curry Source 2.

She died after 1850, when older than 53, possibly in Sullivan County, Indiana, United States.

Jane married Robert Curry 21 October 1831 in Vigo County, Indiana, United States Source 1.

Carol A. Wells-Perlaky's Notations:
Notation 1: Jane Thompson is with Robert Curry in the 1850 US Census. Her relationship has been transcribed as "implied" relationship of a daughter named Jane aged 33 years. The particular census taker's handwriting had their "3"'s being pretty similar to how they wrote their number "5"'s, however Jane's line lists her birthplace as North Carolina which hints this is Jane Thompson, aged 53/55 years in age in the household with Robert.
Notation 2: The Robert Curry, who married Jane Thompson in 1832, in Vigo county, Indiana, is not the same Robert Curry who married Artimesia Hill, in 1834 in Mercer county, Kentucky. Jane is still alive and in same household with Robert Curry in the 1850 US Census and looks as though, given the names in the 1850 household, she may have had only one child with Robert Curry. The Robert Curry, who married "Polly" Skinner in 1811 in Mercer County, Kentucky, had a daughter named Artimesia Curry who married in Mercer county, Kentucky and later died in Kentucky, which tilts the scales - in my mind - to her father was not the Robert Curry who married Jane Thompson in 1831. It appears that the Robert Curry, who is in Sullivan county's 1850 US census, did have a prior marriage that resulted in at least 3 children, as their birth estimates predate his marriage to Jane Thompson, but I don't know "who", "when" and/or "where".
Notation 3: At this time, I haven't located an 1860 or 1870 US census with Robert Curry and/or Jane Thompson Curry appearing in it. I also have not come across any death notices, estate/probate adverts, death/burial records for either one of the two. In terms of Mary, Robert B., and Eliner/Eleanor Curry - I can only find censuses for Robert B. Curry and his later burial but nothing for Mary or Eliner/Eleanor Curry after the 1850 US Census. Robert B. Curry doesn't appear to have ever married.
Notation 4: Included as part of my research - but only due to show "yes, I looked there, and yes - I saw it". The information shared by this source either conflicts with itself and/or lacks sources to help back some/any of it up with. For example, the Find A Grave pages sharing Robert and Jane Thompson were buried in Mercer County, Kentucky but "Burial details unknown" and no mention of any sources to help share they were buried there versus in Indiana or that Jane or having the children listed on those pages ... and the FamilySearch one world tree page for Robert Curry currently has him listed with 2 different sets of parents and 3 wives, [also currently] has him listed to passing in 1851 but having children up to 1856 with Artimesia Hill - so conflicts with the later children's birth years and/or him being in Sullivan County, Indiana in 1850 and also with him and Jane being together in that 1850 census/her stated to passing later in 1874?

Carol A. Wells-Perlaky's Notations:
Notation 1: I have not been able to narrow down his parents. James Curry and Ann Curry, who married in Rockingham County, Virginia and died in Mercer County, Kentucky are one couple he is sometimes listed, in other trees, as to being a child of as they did have a son named Robert [but he was the Robert who married Artimesia Hill?]. There are three other couples he can sometimes be listed as a child of: William Curry and Sarah Bingham, Edward Curry and Lucy Cook and James Curry and Margaret Ann Garner.
Notation 2: Jane Thompson is with Robert Curry in the 1850 US Census. Her relationship has been transcribed with an "implied" relationship of a daughter named Jane aged 33 years. The particular census taker's handwriting had their "3"'s being pretty similar to how they wrote their number "5"'s, however Jane's line lists her birthplace as North Carolina which hints this is Jane Thompson, aged 53/55 years in age in the household with Robert.
Notation 2: There are two Robert Curry censuses, both with having young children in the household - one has 3 and the other has 4, in "places of interest" of my research: Mercer County, Kentucky and Sullivan County, Indiana. Included both since I am not sure if either is for "my" Robert Curry ... or not.
Notation 3: The Robert Curry, who married Jane Thompson in 1832, in Vigo county, Indiana, is not the same Robert Curry who married Artimesia Hill, in 1834 in Mercer county, Kentucky. Jane is still alive and in same household with Robert Curry in the 1850 US Census and appears, given the names shared for the 1850 household, she may have had only one child with Robert Curry. Notation 4: Some attribute her to being a daughter of Ichabod Radley and his wife, Hannah Bush. However, my research doesn't help support that connection. Ichabod Radley may been related, as an uncle perhaps, but what I found for him doesn't help support the thoughts of him and his wife having a child being born, or later marrying, in Ripley County, Indiana. I am not 100% certain about John Radle and Sarah Jones, whom I've attributed to being Hannah's parents, but about 70-75%. Would like to find a bit more information about Hannah Radley Hamilton.

Notation 3: At the time I came across Elizabeth Pittman's entry on FamilySearch's one world tree, shared as a Citation here, she was mistakenly listed with an additional spouse, also with the surname of Johns, and set of children with that additional spouse. However, the person, who added this addtional spouse and set of children, didn't factor in location and dates - as the marriage to the additional spouse as well as the birth of 'their' children took place in England and also 3 to 4 decades before Elizabeth Pittman's birth in Kentucky, United States. Another reminder to look over online trees, individual or one world style, with a skeptical eye and not a 'convenient resource' to just simply copy from.

Carol A. Wells-Perlaky's Notations:
Notation 1: Maiden name has also been shared, by some, as Conney, Cosney and some other variations. I went with Cooney.
Notation 2: On most records, of the children, the mother is most often listed as Ellen. On Hugh Hayes's death record the mother was listed "Nellie". The Ireland Death Index record also shares Ellen. I forget to note where I found Eleanora as her longer, or more formal, first name thought.
Notation 3: I got vague dates of birth and death from other trees, but I can't quite fully "peg down" those dates or locations as of this point in time. I found a death index record, that the estimated birth year would be around 1806, so the date used on here, but it could be anywhere between a 10-year time frame of 1805 - 1815.

Carol A. Wells-Perlaky's Notations:
Notation 1: Surname may also be shared at times/by some as Hays or Hayse in some online trees. I went with Hayes based upon children's baptismal records and also the spelling used by Michael & Hugh on their census and death records, as well their obituaries/death notices in newspapers, in the United States.
Notation 2: On most records, of the children, the father is most often listed as John. On a death record the father was listed as Michael, so that's where I came across Michael as probably being part of his name.
Notation 3: I got the vague dates of birth and death from other trees, but I can't "peg down" those dates or locations as of this point in time - as displayed with my sharing two death index records which one, of the two, may be for him? The two Ireland Death Index records have the estimated birth year averaging to be about 1797.

Carol A. Wells-Perlaky's Notations:
Notation 1: Her maiden name has been shared/spelt as Hickson or Hixson. I went with the Hixon spelling used by William G. Hixon based upon Notation 2.
Notation 2: Many people have her father as Elijah Hixon/Hixson and base this upon his Revolutionary War Soldier Pension application, in Ohio, where a daughter named Rachel Hixon is mentioned in this application. At the time of Elijah Hixon'2 application, Joseph Robert Little McCoskey and Rachel Hixon were married and living in Vigo County, Indiana. Another resource, an autobiographical sketch of William G. Hixon published in 1880, shares the account of how he and his two sisters, Rachel and Margaret, were brought by their father [unnamed] to Knox County, Indiana and placed with a relative [unnamed] there due to the death of their mother [unnamed] shortly after Margaret's birth, so about 1806. The father is said to leave Knox County area shortly thereafter and never returned. William G. Hixon took over caring for his sisters when he finished his apprenticeship and they went to Vigo County, Indiana then William G. Hixon went to Parke County, Indiana. In a later publication, in 1990, this autobiographical sketch is reshared however with an addition, from someone else, naming Elijah Hixson as William's father [citing the application mentioned earlier]. Ages of the children often attributed to Elijah Hixson also raises questions on top of one Rachel, said to be his daughter, beng married and living in Indiana at the time of his pension application, where in it he states an unmarried daughter, named Rachel, is living in his household in Ohio [yet Margaret, who is younger than Rachel, isn't?] then compounded with William G. Hixon's account about him and his sisters being brought to Indiana, from Kentucky, due to death of their mother. In William G. Hixon's account, he does not mention having a[n older] brother named Timothy, nor as to having any other siblings outside of the two younger sisters who were taken with him from Kentucky to Knox County, Indiana by their father.

Carol A. Wells-Perlaky's Notations:
Notation 1: This Andrew Patterson is sometimes confused with another Andrew (Jackson) Patterson whom married and later died in Arkansas or Alabama. The Andrew Patterson, whom I descend from, appears to be from Pennsylvania and by 1840 he went to Illinois where he married twice and died in Scott County, Illinois in 1861.
Notation 2: I got the date of birth from his Find A Grave memorial page and one world tree sites' entries, but referring to Notation 1 about him being confused by some with another Andrew J(ackson) Patterson who lived/married/died in another state - I am not certain if this is his birth date in terms of month, day and year.
Notation 3: Name of child taken from photo of headstone shared on FindAGrave's site.
Notation 4: Possibly had at least two brothers, James and Joseph Patterson. These two males, and one with his wife and daughter, are listed as part of Andrew's household for 1850 Census in Scott County, Illinois.
Notation 5: Known ancestor of Carol on maternal side of her family tree.

Carol A. Wells-Perlaky's Notations:
Notation 1: Indiana Death Certificate for Elizabeth (Palmer) Grames lists her parents' names as David Palmer and Mary Campbell.
Notation 2: Mary Campbell's birth year I calculated from her death notice, published 13 Mar 1863, which shared his age being 82 at the time of his death on 9 Mar 1863.
Notation 3: Basing this relationship thought upon DNA matches with a) my own Ancestry DNA test, b) my sister's Ancestry DNA test, c) one of my maternal 1st cousins' Ancestry DNA test and d) one of my children's Ancestry DNA test. If David Palmer is not the father, as I speculate him to possibly being, then he could been a paternal uncle, which would have Mary Campbell's relationship to Carol change to Indirect; Spouse of 3x Great Uncle.
